A Community of Grace

Matthew 18

Church is really a community of grace. We gather not because we have everything figured out, but because we are learning together what it means to forgive and be forgiven. We stumble, we hurt one another, and we seek reconciliation. This is the ongoing work of being the body of Christ — a place where grace is offered freely, where accountability is practiced lovingly, and where every person is invited to the table. There is always a place for you here.

Prayer: Thank you, God, for this community of grace where I am known, loved, and welcomed just as I am.

Healing Through Our Hurts

Matthew 18

Jesus shows us how to heal through our hurts. He does not ask us to ignore pain or to move past it quickly. Instead, he invites us into a process of healing that is honest, patient, and rooted in community. Accepting forgiveness is its own powerful journey — one that requires us to acknowledge our need, to receive grace humbly, and to trust that restoration is possible. Healing takes time, and Jesus walks with us through every step.

Prayer: Loving God, walk with me through my hurts and help me trust in the healing you offer.

Justice and Forgiveness

Matthew 18

There is no justice without forgiveness, and no forgiveness without justice. These two are not opposites but partners in the work of healing. Forgiveness does not mean ignoring harm or pretending nothing happened. It means facing what is broken with honesty, naming the truth, and seeking a path forward that honors both accountability and grace. This is the kind of forgiveness Jesus calls us to — one that takes seriously both the hurt and the hope for restoration.

Prayer: God of justice and mercy, teach me to seek both truth and grace in all my relationships.

Community Accountability

Matthew 18

Forgiveness doesn't happen in isolation. Jesus places his teaching about unlimited forgiveness within the context of community — a place where we hold one another accountable, where we name harm, and where we seek reconciliation together. This kind of community requires vulnerability and trust. It asks us to show up honestly, to listen deeply, and to believe that restoration is possible even when relationships have been wounded. We need each other for this journey.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be both truthful and tender in community, holding others accountable with love and humility.

The Hard Work of Forgiveness

Matthew 18

Jesus teaches his disciples that forgiveness has no limit — not seven times, but seventy-seven times. This isn't about keeping score or gritting our teeth through shallow gestures. True forgiveness takes effort. It asks us to enter into the messy work of accountability, to name what's broken, and to seek restoration with patience and honesty. Forgiveness is not a single moment but a daily practice, a discipline we grow into over time within our communities of faith.

Prayer: Gracious God, give me courage to do the hard work of forgiveness, and grace to receive it when it is offered to me.

Offer and Receive Grace

Fr. Greg's video this week reminded us that we gather not as people who have it all figured out, but as a community learning together what it means to offer and receive grace. Forgiveness isn't always easy, but it's the work we're called to do — together, with patience, and with God's help.

The Gift of Forgiveness

Jesus offers us something remarkable: ongoing forgiveness. Not a one-time pardon, but a daily invitation to start fresh. This isn't perm...
